Meditation for All in Oakland @ East Bay Meditation Center-Support a Worthy Cause

Namaste all.  So this is a wonderful short for East Bay Meditation Center in Oakland they are bursting out of their storefront space.  Writer Alice Walker & Buddhist teacher/writer Jack Kornfield, [amazon_link id=”0553372114″ target=”_blank” ]A Path with Heart: A Guide Through the Perils and Promises of Spiritual Life[/amazon_link]; and others share what is special about the center.  They are needing monetary support to move to a better space.  Here’s the link to support the  “most diverse meditation center on the planet” they are also doing an actual fundraising event– July 2nd & 3rd 2011.  They are a non-profit, community based, donation based center providing meditation and teachings to a hugely diverse community of peeps from under-served communities! All are welcome including African-American, Asian, Hispanic, LGBT community, and especially working class and poor folks are welcome– as again it done by donation or “Dana” pronounced “Dah-nuh.”  Dana is a word from the Pali language and continues the Buddhist tradition, it means giving whatever you feel able to give with compassionate awareness and to help others.

I have studied (sat retreats) with Spring and Larry Yang both wonderful, delightful teachers and some of the great dedicated teachers at the center! So put out some cash or love which ever you can spare.   As always and like Alice Walker says in the video-basically meditation is the primary tool to help our lives in a positive way: see a how-to post on meditation, or on home page scroll down to “Topics>Meditation” for a bunch of articles.  That post includes links to audio teachings by some of the senior teachers in the tradition too, so check it out!
Share if you have thoughts on meditation, Dharma study, Urban Zen anything related, love to get your comments.  Do you go to a great center for spiritual practice in your town?
