DVD Review: This is It with Adyashanti

I watched the Adyashanti DVD This is It, tonight.   It’s good.  It’s a simple format of the spritual teacher Adyashanti  sitting with a live audience.  Several folks come up to a microphone and ask questions of him of realization, meditation and so on.  This is my first real encounter with Adyashanti.  Previously I had heard a short excerpt talk of only 5 minutes or so.  He has a really unpretentious, and respectful manner.  Very clear and easy-going but he would probe the questioner and turn their responses back to them to bring them to awareness.  I recommend it especially if your library carries it as mine does. It was recorded in Feb. 2006 in California.  I found it helpful and it was my second listening tonight.  It very low key and rewards quiet listening and full attention;  or at most some activity like knitting where one can listen well.
I think this would be best not for a beginner but someone with some sitting practice (meditation experience.)  His approach is very minimal very Zen, not overly elaborate or theoretical. Adyashanti’s website link and here’s a link to a page of Adyashanti You Tube videos.  Most are short but they give you some idea of his “flavor” of teaching.

His books include Emptiness Dancing, and The Impact of Awakening and My Secret is Silence.   I would read them, I especially like the title “My Secret is Silence.”  I tend to trust my intuition when choosing a book, if I’m drawn to it I read it.  Or at least take it out of the library and bring it home and hopefully read it! Namaste.
IF you have read any of these or have a comment, don’t be shy, let your fellow readers know.
