A Kundalini Yoga Kriya to Change Negative Conditions

A Kundalini Yoga Kriya to Change Negative Conditions

As you may know I love Kundalini Yoga-after 20+ years of practicing various “styles” of yoga- I feel as if it is the best for me.聽 And I can see the benefits that could help others depending on the kriya.聽 What I like is that each kriya has a specified benefit-you don’t have to guess what happens. I wanted to share a lovely video that gives a set-called Kriya to Master Your Domain, it’s taught by Anne Novak in the video below.聽聽 Novak says,”If you want to change something happening on the outside, you begin by changing what’s happening on the inside.”聽 She has a wonderful calm presence.聽 It’s commonly said to practice one kriya for a minimum of 40 days. Why I like Kriya to Master Your Domain: I will update this as I go deeper into practice.聽 But, after initially practicing this kriya, I felt a tremendous amount of energy, or prana flow in my body, and a deep sense of being relaxed yet energized. I would choose this for a private yoga client if they felt bit helpless, hopeless or mildly depressed. It might help also if emotionally if they feel they are not accomplishing their goals in life.聽 Kundalini Yoga is a great book, especially if you have some yoga background. It gives around 10 or so kriyas and background on Kundalini Yoga. Why 40 days? It is supposed to take 40 days to “break a habit,” 120 days of KY practice of specific kriya to “install a new habit,” and whew!! 1,000 days for mastery!聽 Just getting to 40 days can be very difficult.聽...

Inspiration: Goethe Poem on Motivation, Manifesting Your Dreams & Goals

If you prefer to hear me read this quote, go here to YouTube: Inspiration: Motivational Quote from Goethe. According to the Goethe Society website actually the last part of this piece,聽 is a paraphrasing of the German philosopher, Goethe’s words by W. H. Murray in The Scottish Himalaya Expedition,1951 (the latter was an explorer.)聽聽 If you read Murray’s full version he actually says “I learned a deep respect for one of Goethe鈥檚 couplets.” He then paraphrases the “whatever you can…” final section.聽 The entire thing is really written by Murray but because he quoted the more famous Goethe, the whole piece ended up getting miss-attributed.   Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one鈥檚 favor all manner of unforeseen incidents, meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamt would have come his way. Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it! -W. H....

Quote: On Decision Making

According to Maria Forleo (primarily a women’s business advisor/motivator) in answer to a question on narrowing down ones’ passion to create a livelihood, consider: Clarity comes from engagement not from thought! Yes as I think about and watch others ruminate on career/life choices they could take.聽 It can be debilitating.聽 Perhaps just choose one after due thought and talk with trusted friends & an advisor;聽 try whatever it is in a small way and then you’ll see pretty clearly “oh this is great” or not. Then move on.聽 But sitting and thinking about the pro’s and con’s endlessly can just get us stuck. and In 10 years will I regret not having done this? I’ve done some huge transitions in the last few years.聽 All without asking this question, but if I did need more clarity this “10 years” question is brilliant.聽 And I will use it in the future....
Is that Little Habit Breaking You?

Is that Little Habit Breaking You?

This聽 is a direct quote of a quote I saw over at Danielle LePorte, she does these truisms over at her site and I saw this one-I had to share with you.聽 But I wanted to make it more useful so here’s the quote followed by some exploration questions on breaking a habit: Habits Can Break You. This is an important part of the Yoga of Manifestation:聽聽 how you use your energy is vital! I have added one habit to my own life: now doing kundalini yoga every morning, and it has made a huge difference in my life!聽 It has impacted areas including: relationships, boldness, creative ideas, confidence, risk taking in ways that are so beyond the 1.5 hours spent doing the practice. From my life and that of friends I’ll throw out some examples that are perhaps similar to a habit that could be “breaking you,” preventing you from being all that you could or want to be. I’ll put in some replacement habits too. 1. Coffee habit every morn/try tea like chai or green tea or a shake with fruit and “superfoods” takes like 5 min to make at home in the blender. Benefit:聽 More energy, better skin and mental clarity- over time 2. Late night habit: Staying up till 1 am/slowing switch over a few weeks by going 15 min earlier, till you are in bed by 11. Benefits: more energy in morning, whole day is affected positively. 3.聽 Avoidance habit: 3 hours on phone daily/before calling or taking a call think about why you are making call, is it loneliness, boredom? Are you avoiding...

Spiritual Success Tips: Work With Mind & Emotions to Change Your Life

This is a short audio by Marc Allen, (author, successful owner of publishing house and musician) he takes you through the 4 part process he used at age 30 to begin a rapid change of his entire life.聽 This talk if taken to heart and acted upon, can change your life for the better!聽 As part of the Yoga of Manifestation I know what’s needed is to clean our inner “hard-drive” basically, the stuff that lies at the root of all of our “programs,” thoughts/beliefs. When I’ve used these principals I have seen them create amazing things. Yes this is about the law of attraction-which works-BOTH WAYS;聽 meaning, as: Thomas Edison is reputed to have said “if you think you can or think you can’t, you’re right!” I recommend starting with ‘Try This Simple Experiment,” it’s only 7 min. and gives good overview of how to begin climbing out of a deep low point in life.聽 To find that talk use little scroll bar, that talk is at the bottom of podcast list. But it’s deeper than a new age phrase “law of attraction,” it’s really a spiritual law.聽 Our vibration, which is a result of our thoughts/feelings/beliefs/behavior then create the reality of our lives. And vibration or energy is not visible but we sense it on a sub-conscious level.聽 Because in our society in the old paradigm- intuition or any non-linear awareness was ridiculed and not discussed. This suppresses our understanding of how we actually co-create our lives. And as result leaves us dis-empowered. I can honestly share with you-I’ve been up and I’ve been down, varying with...

Surviving Being Engulfed In Flames, an Inspirational Story

Get inspired: I ran into Alison Massari, artist, speaker and coach via Twitter of all places!聽 Moved by the inspiration and positivity of her Tweets, I went over to her website.聽 She has an incredible story of survival and “thrival” (yes I made that word up) as a result of her brush with death.聽聽 I resonated with her in part because of the art background.聽 Like me she is finding ways to make the challenges of life, serve as source for her growth and blossoming out to the world rather than shrinking back from the world! I asked her to tell her story to Embark readers: [dropcap4 color=”red”]D[/dropcap4]o you believe that good can prevail and blossom in the midst anything? As a child, I learned that there was wonder and brilliance, but I also learned the reality of intense sadness and pain in the world. More than anything, my parents wanted me to believe that good could prevail; they wanted me to believe that no matter what, even in the darkest of places, beauty and love could bloom. When I was seventeen, I was handed a newspaper clipping. It was one of the most painful things I had ever read, about a little 2-year-old baby by himself in the closet of his home, playing with a Bic lighter (at the time, there were no child-proof safety latches). Within seconds the entire closet and all the clothes were consumed in fire around him; he was completely helpless.聽 His body was burned so completely, the doctors didn鈥檛 know if this small child would live. I was so affected by this story....

Is Workplace Bullying & a Hostile Work Environment Making You Sick?

Update: listen to a 22 min guided meditation for stress, and its free! It’s in this follow up post: “Workplace Stress? Try a Wonderful Guided Meditation for Stress” I’ve been getting clarity, as to how I can serve others in the cosmic dance of turmoil that individuals and the planet are going through.聽 As some of you know, (perhaps you’ve read my story on my about page,) I left a “good job” because of workplace bullying by my peers. To recap, I worked as an academic, a college professor for 6 years.聽 I was so excited initially.聽 It was my dream to have a “grown up” job, the first full time job in my life. This after years of part-time art and yoga teaching jobs that payed poorly and had no benefits. But as a result of the stress of daily workplace bullying, my self-esteem eroded slowly but steadily.聽 My health began to suffer and I was diagnosed with anxiety and depression as a result of the job stress. I survived with the help of a deeply skilled and caring therapist.聽 I fought and won a tenure battle that left me bruised and more depressed.聽 I was given sick leave.聽 Realizing that I could not return to a toxic聽 work environment, I left the position, with no job in this horrible economic climate. So if you are experiencing something similar I understand, I’m coining the term a Thunderbolt experience!聽 The image (and images are very powerful) that comes to mind is one from the tarot card deck;聽 typically lightening is striking a tower and people are falling out.聽 Or...

Discerning & Expressing Your Divine Passion Pt. 2

This poem “Kindness,” plays a part in why I must revamp my blog.聽 Somehow via reading “O” magazine from the library, I got inspired-yes it can be hokey and so commercially driven but the heart of the Oprah magazine is in the right place.聽 It was the April 2011 issue, which focused on poetry- that and my daily intuitive reading led to a huge inner explosion of clarity and energy. I realized that all my disparate interests can come together and weave into a coherent and beautiful garment via this blog.聽 My reading for yesterday said-you can create something by participation that will surpass what any of you can do alone and you all will be nourished by it. Intuition said to open Embark up more — via participation from writers, artists and such as well as my own voice. I love writing, I love artistic expression and had been confused as to how to move forward on both or either.聽聽 So I’m getting clearer…but how can this (besides sharing this deeply moving poem,) be of any help to you?聽 BIG QUESTIONS? On Life Purpose… Are you looking for the big picture?聽 Is there a new you that could be forged out of the fire of your most difficult and your most enjoyable experiences?聽 What have you survived, how did you thrive?聽 What little things do you love?聽 Embark is about “loving the life you live,” so I encourage you to see how all of your history can be food for a new and nourishing banquet? For me it’s staying open to all the little things of the days...

Is Yoga Keeping You Poor? Part 2

Updated 6/2014 My last post was on whether yoga is pulling us out of the “marketplace” and perhaps undermining our efforts at livelihood. By yoga I mean the physical and meditative practices, I’m not referring to the philosophical/religious Yogic study. Also I think my musings might apply only to certain folks (I’ll say more on that,) in certain environments. My thinking is that a great metaphor is that we humans are like trees or flowers all gorgeous, we manifest-our flowers-differently, colors, scent, height all vary. Each one grows best in different environments with different needs for sun and water.聽 Some plants can grow on edge of cliff on rock!聽 So my thoughts refer to those who may be similar to me and those around me that I”ve observed- that are living in “developed” countries. The latter is important as I’m not addressing poverty that is widespread and systemic such as in third world countries or parts of first world countries for that matter. And in no way is this series meant to blame. In fact if my observations apply to you I truly hope they can be helpful. So please keep that in mind, I am not making generalizations that apply to all or even most. As a yoga practitioner/teacher of seventeen years-in that time some periods have been less practice of yoga;聽 and sometime daily or several times a week practice.聽 In those years too, I’ve often had a meditation practice, which has varied from more yogic techniques of chakra or mantra meditation to more Buddhist based.聽 In the latter case I’ve attended multiple week long silent Insight...
